365 day challenge

Imagine opening your mailbox and among the bills and junk mail, you find a handwritten letter of appreciation. It’s not your birthday or anniversary — it’s a “just because” letter…

I challenged myself to write a handwritten, unexpected letter of appreciation to a different person every day for one year. I wanted to see if I could feel more mindfully present, less stressed, and happier if I made kindness intentional, and simply shared the kind thoughts that I had. I added it to my daily to-do list and binged kindness for one year.

You made my day, my week, my month,
my year!

-Letter Recipient

It was transformational:

I feel more connected to and nourished by all of my relationships. I slowed down and began to interact with more intention. I asked more questions, and I listened better. I found attributes to appreciation in people everywhere. This project has reinforced for me that when you have a nice thought about someone share that gift. Both the letter writer and the lucky recipient are empowered, energized, and uplifted.

You don’t have to write a letter a day for one year. Just write one letter and see how you feel. We all have the power to make someone’s day just by taking the time to share what we admire, appreciate or love about them.

Help people be seen!
